2-M doses of Pfizer arrive in PH

A complete of two,020,590 doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine arrived within the Philippines on Sunday night time (Sept. 19) on the Ninoy Aquino Worldwide Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3.
The vaccines had been donated by the U.S. by way of the COVAX Facility.
The cargo was welcomed by Nationwide Activity Power (NTF) towards COVID-19 chief implementer and vaccine czar Sec. Carlito Galvez Jr., U.S. Embassy Chargé d’Affaires Heather Variava, and W.H.O. Consultant within the Philippines Dr. Rabindra Abeyasinghe.
In accordance with Galvez, the newly acquired vaccines shall be given to precedence areas reminiscent of Area 4-A, Area 3, Area 6, Area 7, Area 11, Area 9, Area 1, and Area 2.
“Nakikita natin ngayon na tumataas na rin sa La Union at sa ibang areas dito sa northern areas so we’ll give these vaccines to these principally in want of this,” Galvez mentioned.
“We try to persuade our aged, our A2 and A3, to take this vaccine as a result of that is the time [cases are rising up], and we would like these vaccines to be given to them,” he added.
Galvez then thanked the U.S. for the donation.
“We want to thank the WHO for this donation, particularly the US. Thanks very a lot. The President could be very grateful for offering us the wanted vaccines,” he mentioned. – bny
