RETURN OF NIA UNDER DA CONTROL AUGURS WELL FOR FARMERS, SAYS BONGBONG
Presidential aspirant Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos, Jr. on Tuesday backed the proposed switch of the Nationwide Irrigation Administration (NIA) below the jurisdiction of the Division of Agriculture (DA) saying that the transfer is the suitable step in direction of serving to Filipino farmers enhance their crop yields.
Marcos identified that the DA, being the first company dealing with the agriculture sector, has all of the pertinent knowledge, packages, gear, and specialists. It was transferred to the Division of Public Works, Transportation, and Communication in 1972, and was connected to the Division of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and DA in 1987. In 1992, the NIA returned to the OP however was transferred once more to the DA. In 2014, NIA was in a while moved to the OP by Govt Order No. 165.
